The Founder
Matthew Koehler
Matthew Koehler is the founder and lead advisor of AnchorLine Financial Planning, bringing 15 years of experience in portfolio management and wealth planning. Driven by a steadfast commitment to prioritizing each client's best interests, Matthew established AnchorLine to deliver transparent, fiduciary-focused financial strategies.
Before entering the financial sector, Matthew served in the U.S. Navy as an engineer in the Nuclear Reactor Department aboard the USS John C. Stennis. After his service, the Houston native, whose childhood visits to family in Idaho left an indelible mark, relocated to pursue his education and start a family. He earned a degree in business management from Boise State University before launching his financial career.
Matthew gained foundational industry experience at MassMutual, Morgan Stanley, and an independent options-trading firm. Along the way, he came to appreciate the ethical clarity of being a fiduciary, realizing it best aligned with his personal and professional values. In 2013, Matthew joined Mustard Seed Financial, working as an investment advisor to support valued clients and enhance every facet of the firm, building the deep investment expertise that now drives AnchorLine Financial Planning.
Outside of his professional pursuits, Matthew cherishes moments spent with his wife, Ashley, and their two sons, Brecken and Peyton. The family frequently embarks on adventures camping, fishing, and rafting down rivers, as well as hiking and skiing through the mountains. An avid outdoorsman, Matthew also enjoys hunting and actively training and coaching in the martial art of jiu-jitsu, where he holds a brown belt.
